If you are like us at Family Fun, we are always looking for activities to pass the time and keep the kids busy.

Despite the current world situation, local businesses have transitioned their activities, programs, and events online.

Whether you are looking for an art project, storytime, or a nature adventure, we have you covered.

Here is a complete list of virtual activities, programs and events in the Okanagan for you to enjoy:

Art Galleries and Projects

Art Project

Kelowna Art Gallery – In addition to daily art challenges they also offer Family Sunday activities on Instagram and Facebook.

Vernon Public Art Gallery – Weekly video sessions of “Try This at Home with the VPAG” can be found on their Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Website.

Dance, Music, and Yoga

Purple Lotus Yoga – Free online yoga for kids on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:00 pm and free Mom and Baby Yoga Wednesdays at 11:00 am. Registration is available on their website.

Sparkle Dance Academy – For less than $1 per day, your family can enjoy online Yoga, Dance, and Fitness classes. Practice anytime, anywhere, as many times as you want. Check their website for all the details.

Library Programs, Stories, and Songs

Storytime

Childhood Connections – Offering weekly Facebook Live Events of Online Story, Song and Rhyme, Baby Talk and Parent and Child Mother Goose.

Dream Party Productions Storytime – Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday your favourite princess will read a new story on their Facebook Page. You can also view past videos on their Facebook Page.

Mother Goose Armstrong – Join the Boys & Girls Club on Zoom every Wednesday for their Toddler Session at 9:00 am or their Baby Sessions at 10:00 am. On Fridays from 11:15 am to 11:45 am they also offerRecharge and Reconnect on Zoom. Check their Facebook Page for all the details.

Okanagan Regional Library – Their YouTube Channel offers S.T.E.A.M Programs and Rhyme Time with Ashley.

Penticton Public Library – From Tuesday to Friday, they stream a live weekly storytime on their Facebook Page.

Salmon Arm, Silver Creek, South Shuswap, North Shuswap Libraries – Streaming a storytime video on their Facebook Page.

YMCA Early Years Community – They are offering their Family Play Time Online including storytime, music time, craft time all available on their Facebook Page.

Museums

Peachland Museum

Greater Vernon Museum and Archives – Recurring content on their website will include historical vignettes, oral histories, artifacts of the week, historical footage, and more.

Lake Country Museum & Archives – Posting video series of their museum on their Facebook Page.

Oliver Museum – Learn about the town of Oliver through their online walking tour.

Nature & Science Programs

Allan  Brooks Nature Centre Society – Every Wednesday they are offering nature education videos on their Facebook Page. In addition to free printables, activities and more!

Okanagan Science Centre – Bringing you a video series of short, fun, science-based demos and activities that you can do at home. Check out their YouTube channel for these videos.

Regional District Central Okanagan – Join their staff each Tuesday through Friday at 10:30 am and Saturday at 1:00 pm for Instagram Live Interpretive Programs.

Support & Networking Programs

Penticton Breastfeeding Cafe – Are you expecting a new baby or have you had a baby during the last year? Join the Penticton Breastfeeding Cafe for their virtual meetups (Zoom) for mother to mother support, friendship, and information. Fridays 10:00 am to Noon, more information on Facebook.
