Floating the Penticton Channel is a bucket list activity for families every summer. It’s a slow, easy float down 7 kilometers of water connecting Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake, and Coyote Cruises makes it simple by renting tubes and party islands and shuttling everyone back to the start. Just show up, slap on some sunscreen, and let the current do the work.
Getting started is easy. Visit the starting point at 215 Riverside Drive in Penticton, then stop by ticketing in the north building to grab your tube or bus ticket. From there, head to the Coyote Den (south building) to sign the waiver and pick up your tube. You can rent a single or double tube, or go bigger with a 4, 8, or 12-person party island.
How long the float takes varies each year. It also depends on the day’s water flow and wind, so there’s no set time. You can hop out at either the mid point or end point along the way. Since you’re heading into the water, everything you’re bringing should go in a dry bag. Coyote Cruises sells both 5L and 20L dry bags, plus waterproof phone pouches, so your valuables stay safe the whole trip.
