Griffin Farms
Griffin Farms is a charming U-pick farm located in Westbank, proudly owned by the Griffin family for over 100 years. The farm’s roots trace back to the early 1900s when John and Lois Griffin purchased the land and began planting apple trees.
They became the first orchard in the area to export apples to England—John’s home country—marking a proud milestone in the farm’s history.
Today, Griffin Farms is run by Glenn and Karen Griffin along with their family. Over the years, they’ve expanded beyond apples to include pears and a wide variety of stone fruit.
The fruit season typically begins in mid-July, starting with cherries and apricots. Peaches and plums follow in August, while apples, pears, and Italian prune plums are ready by September. The harvest continues until around Thanksgiving weekend in October.
All fruit is available pre-picked or for U-pick when ripe. Some varieties sell out quickly, so it’s best to check in for daily updates by phone or messaging them on Instagram or Facebook before your visit.
When you arrive, the farm provides buckets, bags, and ladders for picking. While boxes are sometimes available, you’re encouraged to bring your own. It’s a good idea to dress for the weather—bring hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottles, and sturdy shoes for walking or ladder climbing.
In addition to fruit, Griffin Farms grows a variety of vegetables. Depending on the year, you might find tomatoes, peppers, green and yellow beans, beets, pickling cucumbers, onions, red Russian garlic, corn, zucchini, and a range of squash.
The farm is open from Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm during July and August, and is closed on Sundays. Fall hours are reduced, so be sure to confirm the schedule before heading out.
Whether you’re picking peaches in the summer sun or gathering apples in the crisp fall air, Griffin Farms is a wholesome spot for families to enjoy the bounty of the Okanagan.
