The Peachland Museum suprised our family and we spent an hour there. Head upstairs where you can watch the trains in action from Nelson to Hope which was the length of the Kettle Valley. The train tracks wrap around the entire upstairs with interactive buttons the kids can press.

Located in the same building as the Penticton Public Library, the Penticton Museum is full of activities and exhibits for you to enjoy with your children. The Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday and is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

S.S. Sicamous Heritage Park

S.S. Sicamous Heritage Park

Tour the historic SS Sicamous, the largest surviving sternwheeler in BC and is open as a museum to the public. Inside the Sicamous is a model railroad that wraps around part of the main floor. The kids love watching the train come around the circuit. Upstairs you can explore the many rooms of the ship.

Summerland

Summerland Museum

Open to the public by donation, the Summerland Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Take a self-guided tour of the museum, starting on the lower floor. Upstairs is the main attraction, a smaller model railroad that you can start with the press of a button. There are small step stools so the little ones can see the train in action.

Visit the Interpretive Centre at Allan Brooks Nature Centre where you explore the two main exhibit spaces, the Habitat Room and the Discovery Room. There are both static exhibits and interactive activities, permanent displays and travelling exhibits, and samples of artwork created by Major Allan Brooks.

The Vernon Museum Exhibit Space is open to the public for drop ins from Wednesday to Saturdays. They offer a mini-scavenger hunt around the museum for kids and a recently refurbished children’s area that captures the magic of the North Okanagan’s Natural History. If you would like to enjoy activities from the comfort of your home, the Museum also offer many virtual exhibits and programs online.

Vernon Public Art Gallery

The Vernon Public Art Gallery offers a variety of educational programs to students including exhibition tours and hands-on art activities. On the last Monday of every month they offer a mini-artists program and once a month they offer Family Saturdays, where you can join them for a fun art activity inspired by their current exhibits.
