Penticton Public Library – Storytime

Caregivers are invited to drop in with their children for interactive storytime programs that feature songs, rhymes, games, and simple board books with Julia, the Youth Services Librarian. Children’s programs include baby songs & rhymes, toddler time, and preschool storytime.

YMCA Early Years

During the school year, from September to June, YMCA Early Years provides a play space at the Penticton Community Centre where children can freely explore, create, and let their imagination soar in a warm and inclusive setting. While families are requested to register via Eventbrite, daily drop-in spots are also available. To ensure availability, it is recommended to contact Dana (contact details below) in advance through a call or text to inquire about drop-in space. Additionally, you can join their informative Facebook group, which offers updates on program-related groups and upcoming events.

La Leche League Canada

For pregnant and breastfeeding moms and babies, there is a valuable resource available in the form of breastfeeding information and support. The local Summerland/Penticton group hosts Zoom meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 10 am. A comprehensive calendar of Zoom meetings can be found on their website, offering a wide range of opportunities to connect and receive guidance.

Pacific Post Partum Support Society

Pacific Post Partum Support Society provides essential support to mothers and their families who may be facing postpartum/perinatal distress, depression, and anxiety. They offer various avenues of assistance, including phone support, text messaging, and support groups.

OneSky Beginnings Pregnancy Support Program

Provides confidential, non-judgemental support and services for those facing challenges of
pregnancy and postpartum. Includes access to a free donation room, weekly drop-in sessions,
as well as other structured programs. Programs run all year round. Located at 216 Hastings Ave

Baby Cafe (formerly Penticton Baby and Breastfeeding Cafe)

Free drop-in, come-and-go, group meets every Thursday 9:30 am-11:30 am at #130-216 Hastings Ave. (the same site as the One Sky Pregnancy Support Program). This group is open to you if you are pregnant or have a baby up to 3 years of age. Offers parent-to-parent support, friendship,
and information regardless of feeding choice.

Penticton StrongStart

StrongStart is a free school-based early learning program offered on school days. Your child will have free time to play games, read books, create a craft, participate in storytime where they will sing songs, and exercise during gym time (where applicable).

Mamas for Mamas South Okanagan

This charity supports mothers and caregivers in crisis by providing ongoing support to individuals and

Mamas for Mamas – South Okanagan Facebook page is for parents or caregivers to look for items or if
they have items to trade or give away they can post them to the page. No money can exchange hands,
their currency is only kindness. They also offer a Karma Market where parents and caregivers can shop
for items they need. Accessing this can be set up by filling out a Mamas Online Support Application on
the website until the “Contact” tab.
