The KF Centre for Excellence in Kelowna is a 60,000-square-foot aviation exhibit that offers an exciting and interactive experience for families. Located near Kelowna International Airport, this family-friendly destination features a historic aircraft collection, hands-on exhibits, and flight simulators that allow visitors to step into the world of aviation. The facility is wheelchair accessible and open year-round, Tuesday to Saturday. Please be sure to check their website before visiting for special event exceptions to these hours.

Children can enjoy the separate play area at McDonald’s Penticton. Here there is a play structure, a few screens with games, and tables to sit and enjoy your food.

The McDonald’s West Kelowna on Gellatly Road is a convenient and kid-friendly stop, especially for families on the go. It features an indoor PlayPlace with two small slides built right into the structure—perfect for younger kids to burn off some energy. There’s ample seating just outside the play zone, so parents can relax, sip a coffee, and keep an eye on the action while little ones play and snack.

The Kelowna Art Gallery offers a welcoming and creative space for families to connect through art. With hands-on programs like Family Sundays, Studio Scribble for little ones, and the always-open ART LAB, there’s plenty to engage kids of all ages. The gallery also offers seasonal art camps, youth classes, and workshops for all skill levels, along with rotating exhibitions and guided tours. The Penticton Museum & Archives is a family-friendly spot packed with interactive exhibits and hands-on fun. Kids will love the Hands-On Heritage Lab, where they can build earthquake-proof towers, watch a model steam engine, and explore an augmented reality sandbox. Pick up a scavenger hunt at the front desk to turn your visit into a playful adventure, and don’t forget to meet the museum’s resident snake! Located in the same building as the Penticton Public Library, it’s a great way to spend a morning or afternoon. Open Tuesday to Saturday, with entry by donation ($1 suggested for kids, $2 for adults).

Visit Planet Bee Honey Farm and Meadery where visitors can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities. Kids can peek into the glass observatory hives to spot the Queen Bee (look for the white dot), try on a beekeeper suit for a fun photo, enjoy story time (select dates), and explore bee-themed toys, puzzles, and games. There’s lots to see, do, and learn during your visit!

The Summerland Museum and Archives is a family-friendly spot where you can explore the town’s history at your own pace. Admission is by donation, and kids love the highlight upstairs, a working model railway they can start with the push of a button, complete with step stools so even the smallest visitors get a great view.

The Boarding House Café in downtown Vernon is the city's only board game café, offering a cozy spot to play from a library of over 300 games. Perfect for families, friends, or a casual outing, guests can enjoy fresh baked goods, drinks, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great place to unwind and connect over games.

The Vernon Library of the Okanagan Regional Library is a vibrant community hub with something for every age group. Little ones can join in on Baby Time, PJ Story Time, French Story Time, and more, while older kids and teens have access to engaging activities like Lego sessions, 3D crafting, and Coding Club. The library also supports newcomer families through programs such as the Niteo Family Reading Program and homework help.

The aquatic centre offers a 25-meter swimming pool, a hot tub, a steam room, warm soaking pool as well as a beach entrance, aquatic wheelchairs, and a client transport lift and family change rooms.
