Children can enjoy the separate play area at McDonald’s Penticton. Here there is a play structure, a few screens with games, and tables to sit and enjoy your food.

The McDonald’s West Kelowna on Gellatly Road is a convenient and kid-friendly stop, especially for families on the go. It features an indoor PlayPlace with two small slides built right into the structure—perfect for younger kids to burn off some energy. There’s ample seating just outside the play zone, so parents can relax, sip a coffee, and keep an eye on the action while little ones play and snack.

The Penticton Museum & Archives is a family-friendly spot packed with interactive exhibits and hands-on fun. Kids will love the Hands-On Heritage Lab, where they can build earthquake-proof towers, watch a model steam engine, and explore an augmented reality sandbox. Pick up a scavenger hunt at the front desk to turn your visit into a playful adventure, and don’t forget to meet the museum’s resident snake! Located in the same building as the Penticton Public Library, it’s a great way to spend a morning or afternoon. Open Tuesday to Saturday, with entry by donation ($1 suggested for kids, $2 for adults).

The Summerland Museum and Archives is a family-friendly spot where you can explore the town’s history at your own pace. Admission is by donation, and kids love the highlight upstairs, a working model railway they can start with the push of a button, complete with step stools so even the smallest visitors get a great view.

The Vernon Library of the Okanagan Regional Library is a vibrant community hub with something for every age group. Little ones can join in on Baby Time, PJ Story Time, French Story Time, and more, while older kids and teens have access to engaging activities like Lego sessions, 3D crafting, and Coding Club. The library also supports newcomer families through programs such as the Niteo Family Reading Program and homework help.

The aquatic centre offers a 25-meter swimming pool, a hot tub, a steam room, warm soaking pool as well as a beach entrance, aquatic wheelchairs, and a client transport lift and family change rooms.

The Kelowna Rockets are a Major Junior hockey team in the WHL. They play at Prospera Place in downtown Kelowna, an arena with seating for over 6,500 fans.

The recreation centre offers a 25-meter swimming pool, a children’s play pool, and a whirlpool and steam room to the public. Public swimming and lane swimming is available during the allotted times below. The birthday package includes access to the swimming pool during the public swim, a private room with tables and chairs for food, cake, presents, and support from recreation staff if needed.
