Skating Rinks

The new Penticton Outdoor Skating Rink, located north of City Hall’s parking lot, opens Saturday, December 21, 2024. The rink, measuring 40 by 14 meters, operates daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Family skating happens on odd calendar days with no hockey, pucks, or sticks allowed—perfect for beginners and casual skaters. Even calendar days are for shinny hockey, open to all ages, with safety gear required and fair play encouraged. Bring your own skates, as rentals are not available. Run by volunteers, the rink is open to everyone all season long, with no private bookings allowed.

This 1km loop is truly amazing to enjoy with the entire family. Bring your skates or rent your own as you glide through trees and a winter wonderland. The adventure skating loop is maintained and cleared every day.

Brewer's Pond at SilverStar Mountain Resort in Vernon, British Columbia, offers a quintessential Canadian ice-skating experience on its expansive 2.5-acre natural rink. Skaters of all ages can glide across the ice, enjoy a game of pond hockey, or take a leisurely skate amidst the picturesque mountain scenery. Centennial Outdoor Rink in Vernon offers free outdoor skating throughout the winter season, with a range of public skate sessions, family-friendly times, and dedicated Shinny games for various age groups. Helmets are mandatory for skaters under 10 and all Shinny players, and additional equipment requirements apply. Youth Shinny players must pre-register and display a color-coded helmet marker provided by the Recreation Centre. The Cherryville Outdoor Rink, located in Hanson Park, provides a seasonal outdoor skating experience for the community, open to the public when weather permits. For updates on hours and rink conditions, the Cherryville Rink Society’s Facebook page shares the latest information.

District Wine Village in Oliver offers a unique and family-friendly experience, featuring 16 artisan producers, including wineries, a brewery, and a distillery. Each place offers tastings, and the central plaza often hosts live entertainment, markets, and events throughout the year. In the winter months, the plaza transforms into a synthetic ice rink, providing delightful skating fun for the whole family.

Located within the John Pritchard Memorial Sports Complex, Enderby Arena offers a full season of public skating from September to March. Weekly public skate times are available alongside seasonal skating lessons for various skill levels. The arena also hosts the Enderby Ice Hawks hockey sessions for different age groups. With a capacity for 900 spectators, the arena provides bleacher seating, a concession, dressing rooms, and washroom facilities. Private bookings are available at reduced rates during non-prime hours, including special holiday rates in late December.

This outdoor rink in Lavington is covered and free to use. This rink is operated by the Lavington Community Association and is weather-dependent. Half the ice rink is allocated for hockey the other half for young children skating. There is a covered seating area for spectators to watch.

Within the Mount Boucherie Complex in West Kelowna, Jim Lind Arena offers a community-focused ice rink experience, hosting public skating, adult-only sessions, therapy skates, and Big & Little skating for parents and tots. It’s a popular spot for relaxed, family-friendly skating with a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.
