Things to Do with Kids in Oliver

Known as the ‘Wine Capital of Canada’, Oliver is also the perfect place to try some family fun activities throughout the year.

Location

Oliver is located 20 minutes north of Osoyoos or 40 minutes south of Penticton.

Family Drop-In Programs

On school days, bring your kids ages 0-5 years to Oliver StrongStart. It is a free school-based early learning program offered at the Oliver Elementary School where your child will have free time to play games, read books, create a craft, participate in storytime where they will sing songs, and more!

Oliver Parks and Recreation are proud to offer a wide range of activities and events for the whole family! Their Community Outdoor Pool opens May Long Weekend. The centre also offers tennis courts, lawn bowling, and outdoor basketball courts.

Parks & Playgrounds

Open from May to September, the Kinsmen Spray Park is one of our favourite parks in the South Okanagan to visit over the summer. There is also a playgound on site which includes swings, slides and different climbing structures. The spray park is located right in the centre of the park and is surrounded by large trees for shade, 4 picnic tables, 1 bench and public washrooms.

Learning

Stop at the Oliver Regional Library to take out a book, magazine or dvd. You can also register to join an online storytime or participate in their many activities throughout the year.

Housed in the old BC Provincial Police building, the Oliver Museum is open to the public year-round. Book a visit to view a feature exhibit or schedule a guided downtown heritage walking tour by donation (in the summer months).

Winter Activities

Mount Baldy Ski Resort boasts affordable season passes and lift ticket prices, a wide variety of beginner and intermediate terrain, world-class grooming, professional lessons provided by our snow school, and extracurricular activities for kids to create the perfect place for families to visit

For winter activities to enjoy with the family, the Oliver Arena offers public skating, parent and child skate, parent and child stick and puck as well as tykes learn to skate classes. Rentals are available at this arena.

Head to Panorama Orchards where they focus on stone fruit crops such as cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, and apples and also have an extensively grown crop of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and garlic.
