Youth Shinny players must pre-register and display a color-coded helmet marker provided by the Recreation Centre. The Penticton Outdoor Skating Rink, is seasonal and located north of City Hall’s parking lot. The rink, measuring 40 by 14 meters, operates daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Family skating happens on odd calendar days with no hockey, pucks, or sticks allowed—perfect for beginners and casual skaters. Even calendar days are for shinny hockey, open to all ages, with safety gear required and fair play encouraged. Bring your own skates, as rentals are not available.

McDonald’s Vernon is a family-friendly stop that features an indoor PlayPlace designed to keep kids active and entertained. With space to climb, slide, and explore, it’s a convenient option for a casual meal or a quick break during the day.

During the school year, from September to June, YMCA Early Years provides a play space at the Penticton Community Centre where children can freely explore, create, and let their imagination soar in a warm and inclusive setting. While families are encouraged to register via Eventbrite, daily drop-in spots are also available. Peachland StrongStart at Peachland Elementary is a free, play-based early learning program for children from birth to age five and their caregivers. Offered on weekday mornings during the school year, the program provides a welcoming space for families to connect, play, and learn together. The centre operates on a first-come, first-served basis when school is in session. Families must register online before attending.

The Summerland Library is a bright, family-friendly spot with free Wi-Fi, cozy reading areas, a fun kids' section, and a dedicated teen zone. It’s a great place to read, play, study, or just unwind.

The Armstrong Outdoor Pool is a fantastic place to visit if you enjoy swimming outdoors. The pool is heated, so you can swim comfortably even when it’s chilly outside. Their schedule includes allocated time slots for adult and senior lap swimming, aquatic fitness classes, parent and tot swimming, youth swimming, and registered lessons.

Armstrong StrongStart - Highland Park Elementary is a free, drop-in early learning program for children ages 0–5 and their caregivers, running weekdays from 8:00–11:00am (mid-September to end of June) at Highland Park Elementary in Room 38. Enjoy a morning of playtime, circle time, dance parties, gym time, snacks, and more—all aligned with the School District 83 calendar.
