If you’re craving fresh air, check out our list of family-friendly walks in the South Okanagan.

Hardy Falls Regional Park, Peachland

Hardy Falls, Peachland
Hardy Falls in Peachland

This walk is perfect for all ages as it’s relatively flat. It’s a short walking distance from the parking lot to the waterfalls (10-15 minutes).

You will cross several bridges along the way while learning about Kokanee Salmon, Hardy Falls Geology, and much more!

If you visit at the end of summer/early fall, sockeye salmon will be returning to the Peachland Creek to spawn.

Vaseux Lake Wildlife Centre, Okanagan Falls

Just a 5-minute drive past Tickleberry’s in Okanagan Falls, visit the Vaseux Lake Wildlife Centre and Bird Sanctuary.

This walk is perfect for children of all ages as it’s an easy flat 10-minute walk along the boardwalk. There is a tower at the end, you will see birds and other animals along Vaseux Lake.

Naramata Creek Park Waterfall, Naramata

Naramata Creek Waterfalls, Naramata
Naramata Creek Waterfalls, Naramata

This is another great walk/hike for the family. You will cross many bridges and pathways to get to the top for views of the Naramata Creek Waterfall.

If you are walking with younger children, we recommend stopping at the halfway point (where a small creek crosses the pathway). The second half of the walk begins to get steep and the walk becomes more difficult for younger children (Under 4 years).

If you decide to push ahead, the view of the waterfalls is worth the climb!

Channel Parkway, Penticton

Channel Parkway, Penticton

You will find locals walking, running, and biking along this beautiful trail that stretches from Okanagan to Skaha Lake. This trail wraps around the famous “Channel” where you will find people floating on tubes during the hot summer months.

Park your vehicle at the beginning (Riverside Complex), middle or end of the Channel Parkway and take a leisure walk along the path. Take your time to enjoy the beautiful nature.

Munson Mountain, Penticton

For a panoramic view of Penticton, this is the walk for you. You will find the parking lot for Munson Mountain just past Poplar Grove Winery.

From the parking lot, it’s a short 5-10 minute walk to the top.

You can take the steep trail straight to the top or take the windy trail. The longer trail offers parks and benches to stop and relax.

Don’t forget to bring a camera for a selfie or to take in the views!
