If you’re looking for a fun and unique playground in Vernon, Civic Memorial Park is the place to go! Our girls loved this balloon-themed playground, and I think your kids will too. With plenty of climbing, sliding, and swinging options, it’s the perfect spot to let them enjoy some imaginative play.

A Playground Designed for Adventure

Civic Memorial Park, Vernon

The highlight of the playground is its whimsical hot air balloon structure, which fits perfectly with Vernon’s Winter Carnival and Balloon Glow traditions. Children will have a blast climbing to the top and zooming down the windy slide. The play area is covered with a soft rubber surface and wood chips, making for a cushioned landing if they take a tumble.

This playground at Civic Memorial Park is best suited for younger children (ages 2-5), but there’s plenty of fun for all ages! Our girls loved testing their balance on the log beams and hopping across giant stepping stones. The climbing posts were also a hit—it’s a fun challenge to see who can reach the top first!

Swings, Slides, and More!

One of my favorite things about this park is the variety of activities. There are eight swings in total, including two toddler-friendly bucket swings and six classic belt swings. Our girls also enjoyed rocking on the adorable bear-shaped springer—it’s a cute little detail that adds to the charm.

At this playground, they use logs as balance beams, stepping stones, and even rock climbing structures.

There are eight swings in total, making it the perfect spot for children of all ages to swing and play. For the littlest ones, there are two bucket seats specifically designed for toddlers. The remaining six swings are classic belt swings that are suitable for older kids and adults.

Kids can rock back and forth on this colourful, bear-shaped springer.

Another fun feature is the interactive “ticket booth,” where kids can twist and slide elements.

And don’t forget the talk tube! We had so much fun whispering silly messages from one end to the other.

Also, another natural element feature is the giant rocks that the kids can scale.

With plenty of slides, swings, and climbing areas, the playground at Civic Memorial Park is perfect for kids of all ages to burn off energy and make new friends.

Family Fun Tips

  • Pack closed-toe shoes since the ground is covered in wood chips.
  • If you’re visiting in the summer, bring a hat and sunscreen—there isn’t much shade.
  • Plan to stay a while! There’s plenty of space for a picnic, and kids won’t want to leave anytime
