25+ Things to Do with Kids in Enderby

Located just a 25-minute drive from Vernon, Enderby is a great family-friendly destination with plenty of things to do with kids. From outdoor adventures like river floating and splash parks to indoor fun at the library or StrongStart programs, there’s no shortage of things to do. You can catch a double feature at the Starlight Drive-In or spend time exploring the town’s parks and playgrounds—there’s something for everyone!


Outdoor Activities

1) Explore the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre and discover the wonders of a community-driven salmon hatchery.

A not-for-profit, volunteer-driven, community-based salmon hatchery, and environmental education centre.  In the summer months, Interpreters will be on-site to give you a tour of their hatchery and outdoor educational displays, point out the salmon swimming, and answer any questions you may have. If you come when staff are not on-site, you can take a self-guided nature walk (by donation).

2) Float down the Shuswap River.

Floating the Shuswap River is a must-try summer activity when suggested/permitted by Shuswap River Ambassadors. To make the most of your trip, wear a life jacket and avoid tying inflatables together to navigate safely around natural features like log jams and undercurrents. Start at designated access points, such as Belvidere Park, and enjoy the 1 to 2.5-hour float to Tuey Park—be sure to exit here, as the next take-out point is much farther downstream.

3) Catch a double feature under the stars at the Starlight Drive-In Theatre. 

The Starlight Drive-In Theatre, one of only three drive-ins remaining in BC, provides a nostalgic “movies under the stars” experience for families and film lovers. Open during the summer, it boasts North America’s largest drive-in screen and a concession stand offering snacks and drinks. Watch two movies back-to-back in one evening. Be sure your vehicle can tune in to an FM radio station or bring a portable FM receiver for audio.

Indoor Activities

4) Discover stories, programs, and community events at the Enderby Library.

The Enderby Library provides a range of programs and services for children of all ages, along with a wide selection of children’s books and educational materials. Families can also take part in community events. For the latest updates on programming, visit their Facebook page.

5) Step back in time and uncover local history at the Enderby & District Museum & Archives.

The Enderby & District Museum & Archives is a great place to explore local history with engaging exhibits like a detailed 1905 model of Enderby, hands-on historical tools, and a traditional rope-making demonstration. There’s also a reference room filled with photos and documents to delve deeper into the area’s past. Open year-round with admission by donation, it’s a wonderful way to learn about Enderby’s heritage.

Drop-In Programs

6) Get active and make new friends at Enderby Recreation Programs with BGC.

BGC Okanagan’s Enderby Recreation Programs offer weekly activities for children aged 7 to 12, including community field trips, sports, creative arts, and life skills development in a safe and engaging environment. A one-time registration is required, and once your child’s profile is created and the annual $10 membership fee is paid, children can drop in to participate in the programs.

7) Drop in for free fun and learning at Enderby StrongStart.

StrongStart is a free school-based early learning program offered on school days at M.V. Beattie Elementary School. Your child will have free time to play games, read books, create a craft, and participate in storytime where they will sing songs.

8) Connect learn and share at Baby Talk.

Baby Talk is a free drop-in parenting program at the Enderby Health Centre for parents and caregivers with infants aged 0-12 months. Open to all, it provides a welcoming space to connect, share experiences, and learn about topics like infant development, introducing solids, sleep safety, and more. No registration is needed; join any session that works for you. Check their website for the current schedule.

Parks & Playgrounds

9) Play, splash, and relax at Barnes Park.

where you will find the skateboard park, a newly updated spray park, an outdoor gym, a playground and a picnic area.

10) Let the kids play at Grindrod Park’s family-friendly playground.

11) Enjoy the playground at Riverside Park.

12) Visit Belvidere Park and Tuey Park.

These parks are popular summer spots, offering stunning views and easy access to the water for a relaxing day outdoors.

Located in Barnes Park next to the Enderby Outdoor Pool, the Enderby Spray Park is open from May to September and features colorful flower-themed sprayers and interactive water jets that keep kids entertained. Surrounded by grassy areas, there are washroom facilities are available nearby.

Ice Cream & Coffee

15) Savour a coffee or sweet treat at Enderbeans Café.

Parents can sip on their favorite specialty coffee while kids enjoy hot chocolate with sprinkles for an extra memorable treat. The café also offers delicious baked goods, including such as cookies and muffins sourced from local favorites like Gumtree Catering and PV Blvd Coffee.

16) Stop by Sutherland’s Bakery & Deli for a delicious break.

This convenient spot in Enderby offers over 50 flavors of Foothills Creamery ice cream, plus pizza, fresh bakery items, sandwiches, donuts, coffee, cold drinks, and snacks. With lotto services and an ATM, it’s the perfect stop for a sweet treat or a quick bite.

17) Enjoy ice cream, café delights, and a family-friendly playground at Farmer John’s Market.

Farmer John’s Market in Grindrod is a must-visit for families. Treat yourself to creamy ice cream, savor fresh café offerings, and let the kids explore the fun playground.

18) Support local vendors and enjoy fresh finds at the Enderby Farmers Market.

Join them at their new location on Cliff Avenue and Belvedere Street and support local vendors and downtown merchants. On Fridays from May to October

19) Support local and discover fresh goods at the Kingfisher Farmer’s Market.

Running from late June to early September, this long-standing market offers a variety of fresh produce, homemade baking, crafts, jams, and more. With a history dating back to the 1970s, it’s one of the oldest farmer’s markets in British Columbia and a great spot to enjoy lunch and shop for local treasures.

20) Find affordable and stylish kids’ outfits at Roots & Rascals Children’s Boutique.

Winter Activities

21) Lace up for skating at the Enderby Arena.

Enderby Arena - Public Skating

Helmets are strongly recommended. All persons on ice must be in skates (no shoes). No sticks/pucks during public skate. No skate rentals or skate sharpening are available.

The Enderby & District Recreation Services offers a full day of free family fun for the community.

23) Join the community for Canada Day.

Celebrate Canada Day in Enderby with a small-town parade bursting with patriotic pride, featuring adorable 4H animals, vibrant floats, First Nations dancers, and a classic car show. Kick off the day with a pancake breakfast and enjoy a full day of fun, rain or shine!

24) Relax and unwind to live tunes during Music by the River.

Enjoy live music along the Shuswap River on select Sundays from July to September with the Music by the River series. Bring a picnic, relax by the water, and soak in the sounds of summer with everything from jazz to lively jigs.
