Things to Do with Kids in Lake Country

Enjoy family activities and things to do such as a visit to the Oyama Zipline Adventure Park – fun for all ages. Located between Vernon and Kelowna, Lake Country is surrounded by the beautiful blue waters of Okanagan Lake, Wood Lake, and Kalamalka Lake.

1) Bounce and Zip at Folktale Fine Cider

Folktale Fine Cider isn’t just for adults! Let the kids enjoy the 17-meter inflatable trampoline, a mini zipline, and a visit to the friendly chickens. With activities for all ages, this is a fun and lively spot for a family outing.

Experience thrilling fun at Oyama Zipline Adventure Park! Younger kids can enjoy the enclosed Monkey Play Park, while older adventurers soar on premium guided zipline tours or tackle the aerial park. This spot guarantees an adrenaline-packed family day.

3) Shred at Lake Country Skatepark

Bring skateboards, bikes, or scooters to the Lake Country Skatepark, located in Swalwell Park. This well-lit park offers a chance to try new tricks or simply enjoy the fresh air, with lights on until 11 pm for evening fun.

4) Saddle Up for Family Fun at Bridlewood Riding Centre

Kids over the age of 10 and their families can enjoy guided horseback trail rides through the stunning 1,100-acre ranch in the Okanagan Valley. With breathtaking views of the lakes and valley, plus a practice warm-up session and horse matching for all abilities, it’s a wonderful way to explore the area together.

5) Discover Horseback Adventures for Kids at Okanagan Stables.

Introduce your children to the joy of horseback riding with Okanagan Stables’ programs. The Mini Trail offers toddlers and young kids a 45-minute ride on miniature horses, guided safely by staff. For older or first-time riders, the Introductory Trail Ride provides a one-hour session with a gentle yard ride followed by a small guided trail. Both experiences are perfect for families looking to create lasting memories in the beautiful setting of Oyama.

6) Dive into Stories at Lake Country Library.

The Lake Country Regional Library is a great spot to pick up books, magazines, or DVDs. Families can also join storytime sessions – check their schedule online for more information.

7) Step back in time at the Lake Country Museum.

Discover the history of Lake Country through guided tours or a fun family scavenger hunt at the Lake Country Museum. It’s an engaging way to connect with the region’s rich heritage.


Drop-In Programs

8) Drop in for early learning fun at StrongStart.

Visit École Peter Greer Elementary and enjoy free activities designed for children from birth to five years old. StrongStart offers a play-based early learning program where parents and caregivers can join their little ones for storytime, music, art, and playtime.

9) Discover fun at the Lake Country Boys and Girls Club.

The Lake Country Boys and Girls Club’s Parent & Tot drop-in program offers engaging activities for children aged 0-5 years to explore, play, and build friendships. Caregivers, including parents and grandparents, can connect with others while accessing resources on parenting and child development.

10) Explore Drop-In Programs at Lake Country Library.

Lake Country Library offers a variety of free programs for children. Younger kids can enjoy Baby Time, Romps and Rhymes, and Story Time, featuring stories, songs, and rhymes. For older children, activities like After-School LEGO Builders and Chess Club provide creative and interactive fun. Families are welcome to join and make the most of these engaging sessions.

Splash Park

12) Splash Around at Trethewey Splash Park

Tretheway Spray Park - Lake Country

Operated by the District of Lake Country, the Trethewey Splash Park is open daily from May long weekend until Labour Day. A grassy area surrounds the fruit-themed splash park.


Eat & Drink

13) Lake Country Farmers Market

Located in Swalwell Park is the Lake Country Farmers Market. The market is open from the beginning of June until the end of September and features a great lineup of local vendors. There is a shaded and grassy market splace with free parking and bathrooms, a skatepark and a water park.
