If you are looking for the best playgrounds in Kelowna, you are in the right place. We have spent a lot of time exploring playgrounds with our kids in Kelowna and the Okanagan. Whether you are a local looking for somewhere new or visiting Kelowna with kids, there is something here for every age.
Some of these playgrounds also have splash parks or water parks nearby, which we have noted in each section. We’re always visiting new playgrounds around Kelowna, so check back as we update this guide.
Burne Park

Burne Park is one of Kelowna’s newest playgrounds, and it has a great mix of features for different ages. One thing to know before you go: there is no dedicated parking on site, so plan to park on a nearby side street and walk over. There are also no washrooms here.
Older kids gravitate to the giant multi-storey wooden climbing tower with a long stainless steel tube slide that twists and curves all the way down.

The smaller hill slide is great for toddlers and younger kids. It’s built into a sculpted rubberized mound with stepping stones, climbing bumps, and a rope traverse leading up the slope. The rubber surface is soft to climb on.

Tucked off to one side is a quieter play zone with a wooden bridge, log balance beams, climbing nets, and log stump steppers. Lots of natural wooden elements to climb, balance on, and explore.
There are picnic tables, benches, and some shaded spots for parents.

DeHart Community Park

Our girls loved our visit to DeHart Community Park.
The park has two separate playground structures one for big and one for little kids, with climbing structures, slides, and interactive play elements.

The water play area is a favourite where kids can turn a wheel to send water down through a raised water table. Large trees offer natural shade, and the grassy areas are great for a picnic.

Beyond the playground there is a pump track, parkour zone, small skate area, pickleball courts, basketball court, fitness circuit, foosball tables, and a fenced dog park.

Strathcona Beach Park

Strathcona Beach Park sits right on Okanagan Lake, which makes it a perfect stop in the summer. Kids can move between the playground and the sandy beach in minutes. The beach is perfect for swimming, though there is no lifeguard on duty so keep a close eye on little ones.

The playground itself is a highlight with a tall climbing tower and a spiral tube slide, alongside a smaller climbing structure, an accessible carousel, and a sensory play centre with interactive panels. Rubber surfacing runs throughout the play area (we love this type of soft ground).
There are washrooms, wide open grassy areas, and plenty of trees for shade. One thing to know before you go: paid parking is on site.

Parkinson Recreation Centre Playground

The Parkinson Recreation Centre Playground has the most local touch of any playground in Kelowna. A giant green Ogopogo is the centrepiece, broken into separate humps, tail, and a friendly head that kids can climb on, crawl through, and pose with.

Surrounding the Ogopogo are plenty of other things to explore: a wheelchair-accessible ramp leading up to a yellow bus-themed play structure with steering wheels, a rope climbing pyramid, a saucer swings, a spinning disc, and a sensory panel with musical instruments tucked into a quieter corner. There is also a sandbox area for digging and scoop play.
Parking is on site and the playground is located right in front of the recreation centre. Benches, trees, and picnic tables are nearby.

Quilchena Park

Quilchena Park is located in the Kettle Valley neighbourhood of Kelowna. The star of the playground is a long green tunnel slide built into a hill, kids will love it. The playground also has climbing structures with bridges and ladders, monkey bars, swings for toddlers and older kids, a spring-loaded seesaw, and a fenced sandbox.

Right next to the playground is Quilchena Splash Park, which is fully fenced. There are two water cannons and various spray features.

There are also pickleball and tennis courts, green space, trails, washrooms, and a water fountain on site.

Ballou Park

Ballou Park is a favourite in the Glenmore neighbourhood and the zipline is the first thing kids will spot when they arrive. The playground mixes natural elements like balancing logs, stumps, and rocks with modern equipment including swings, a climbing wall, a spring rider, and a hill slide with rope climbers.

The park is surrounded by a large grassy area, great for kicking a ball around in summer or tobogganing in winter. Note: only a portable toilet is available on site.

City Park

City Park is a downtown Kelowna staple and is a popular family destination due to it’s proximity. The playground has a nostalgic feel with classic slides, swings, and climbing structures, and the location right on Okanagan Lake is hard to beat.

Right next to the playground is the City Park Water Park, a huge hit on hot summer days. Kids can go back and forth between the playground and the water park, and the beach and boardwalk are nearby as well.

The park has large grassy areas for picnics, a skate park, tennis and basketball courts, sand volleyball, and a shallow swim area at Hot Sands Beach that is great for families. Washrooms are on site.
One thing to know before you go: the parking lot fills up fast in summer.

Ben Lee Park

Ben Lee Park is a great all-rounder in Kelowna’s Rutland neighbourhood. The playground is loaded with slides, swings, and climbing structures with accessibility in mind, so kids of all abilities can play alongside each other.
Right next to the playground is the Ben Lee Water Park, which was updated in 2026. There is also askatepark and washrooms.

Rutland Centennial Park

Rutland Centennial Park has a fun playground in the heart of the Rutland neighbourhood. The centrepiece is a tractor-themed play structure in green and red, and the space also includes a separate slide, a saucer swing, stepping stones, a balance rail, and a balance beam with arched hoops to weave through.

A set of musical instruments with drums, chimes, and tubes gives younger kids something to bang on. The whole playground sits on a soft rubber surface.
Beyond the playground there are two outdoor ping pong tables, basketball courts, and a soccer field.
