Cherryville is a small community of around 1,000 people. Visitors come to enjoy the Monashee Mountains, explore Sugar Lake and go camping. Kids can enjoy local playgrounds or learn about the Gold Rush at the Gold Panner Campground.
Location
A 20-minute drive from Lumby or a 45-minute drive from Vernon, it’s the perfect place to visit to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Family Drop-In Programs
If you are looking for a place to meet people from the community and gain support, bring your children to Cherryville Parent and Tot. This is for parents and caregivers with children ages 0-6 during the school year. It’s a free program at the Cherryville Hall.
Parks & Playgrounds
The Cherryville Elementary School has a beautiful playground for children. There are multiple stations where the kids can climb structures, go down slides, ride on the swings and run around.
The Gold Panner Campground includes camping, rentals and RV hook-ups, gold panning, sightseeing, and more. It is also home to the Cherryville Museum and a children’s playground.
Outdoor Play
To explore the outdoors, go camping at Sugar Lake 2 Mile. This campground is maintained by Recreation Sites and Trails BC with access to Sugar Lake.
In the winter months, the community runs an outdoor ice rink available to the public. Get your skates and enjoy this rink located in Hanson Park.
Learning
The Cherryville Museum is located at the Gold Panner Campground and is managed by the volunteers of the Cherryville & Area Historical Society.
Events
Cherryville Days is held on the first weekend in June each year. This annual event starts with a Parade followed by a weekend of activities.
