We were looking for a local vacation so we booked two-nights at the Prestige Vernon Hotel – our favourite hotel from last fall. Not only do they offer families amenities such as indoor pool and hot tub, Vernon offers so many family-friendly activities throughout the year.
Location
Centrally located in Vernon, B.C., the Prestige Vernon Hotel is across Highway 97 from the Vernon Square Shopping Centre. This shopping complex includes businesses such as White Spot, Joey’s Only Seafood, Booster Juice, Safeway (with a Starbucks), Vernon Liquor Store, Dollarama, London Drugs, and the Safeway Gas Station.

The options are endless for shopping with the Vernon Farmers’ Market, Village Green Shopping Centre and downtown businesses all just a few minutes drive away from the hotel.
Rooms fit for families
With 103 guestrooms, there is something for everyone including kitchenettes, loft suites, and standard guestrooms with comfortable beds.
We stayed in a two-queen-bed loft room and we loved it. The rooms were extremely spacious and the loft room above provided privacy between parents and the kids.
Our girls loved the nooks they could play in – under the staircase was their favourite spot where they built a fort.
The room also included a mini-fridge and a microwave which was great for preparing food (hello popcorn and a movie night!)
Family Amenities
When booking to stay at a hotel, an indoor pool and/or hot tub is always on the checklist. Lucky for us, the Prestige Vernon Hotel had both!
Their heated indoor pool was five feet deep – our youngest, who is four years old could not touch the bottom, so we brought her water wings so she could enjoy the pool. The girls loved jumping in and making a splash.
When you are ready to warm up, the hot tub offers seating around the perimeter and don’t forget to turn the jets on (they are located on the wall near the door). There is also a spacious washroom/changeroom near the pool.
At check-in, staff offered the girls their Prestige Junior Adventurers colouring sheet along with crayons.
These activity sheets are Okanagan-focused with crosswords, puzzles and other activities – perfect for entertaining the kids while you unpack.
Bourbon Street Bar and Grill
When you are looking for a restaurant with family options, Bourbon Street Bar & Grill is located in the Prestige Vernon Hotel with the option to dine in and takeout.
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with their main menu including salads/bowls, burgers/sandwiches and favourites such as Pad Thai, ribs, pasta, fish and child, striploin and salmon.
Their kids menu includes options such as chicken fingers, burgers, grilled cheese, and mac n’ cheese. Each meal is served with juice, pop, white or chocolate milk and dessert.
Additional amenities
In addition to the pool and hot tub, the hotel also includes amenities such as a fitness centre, business centre, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
There are vending machines available to purchase your favourite snacks and dog-friendly rooms if you want to bring your furry friends.
Friendly staff
We have stayed at our fair share of hotels and the front desk staff here were exceptional. They were extremely helpful and friendly, always with a smile on their face.
Family Fun Tips
- Bring microwave popcorn and snacks for the room
- Pack water wings, swimsuits, goggles and sandals for the pool
- Get the kids to pack a suitcase of their own toys or shop local – Teeter Totter Toys and Vernon Teach and Learn are both amazing toy stores!
